I caught up with Dan today about his problem employee. She had returned to work following a period of sickness absence 🤢and he was stressing about meeting with her. Not only had she been off sick and refusing to return to her contracted hours, but he chucked into the mix that she had been seriously under-performing and not meeting the role expectations. He confirmed he had not held any previous informal or formal performance discussions with her. Dan wasn’t certain how to approach this, so I spent some time coaching him on what he needed to do:
